Being trying these for days and now that its working maybe some of you guys want to do the same thing.

ok here goes as follows :-

192.168.1.1 <--- TL-R488T Load Balancer with 4 ADSL Lines ( Dynamic ip when connected to WAN)
192.168.1.100 <--- EOC 2610 using DDWRT Firmware, Called it AP-1, already setup and is running dHotspot
192.168.1.102 <--- EOC 2610 using DDWRT Firmware, Called it AP-2, this unit is setup the same setting like AP-1, with the same config for chillisopt setting. Please take note on the "Network Setup" make sure you have to put it the ip on "Gateway IP", initially on my first AP-1 it was left as default with 0.0.0.0 and it still works with dHotspot. But in order to do what the topics say, both units will have to have GATEWAY ip's. else only one unit will work and the other unit will not TALK with chillispot. now you can try and and see that both units will have have the login page of dHotspot. Note the above work with LAN.
Say now we want to move AP-2 to another location. i have it in a distance of 1.8km.
For AP-1 the "WDS" i add in the mac address of AP-2
For AP-2 the "WDS" i add in the mac address of AP-1
and once you have done that, check on the "STATUS" click "WIRELESS" and see if they have connected each other.
the above i try using WDS do take a lot of bandwidth if you check on the status page.

so hope this might be useful to you all, i am still looking into better ways of setting beside using WDS. will post if i find anything new.

Happy Hotspotting

Tx

I think the proper way to call it is "Range Extender" instead of "Extend Coverage". this is dHotspot added feature :)

Hi there Tom, i am running at point to multi point at 1.8km. Take note not all Access Point can go that far, the one i am using is Engenius EOC 2610 which give me a 27dbm, and is hookup to a 15dbi omni antenna. I have try with Linksys WRT54GL, the best range is 500 meter provided the unit is outdoor installation.
checkup the wiki very helpful info:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DBm
at the mean time i am waiting for my sector antenna arrive and see if the coverage is better. i also ordered a 1Watt amp to try it out. will keep you inform if you are interested.

Cheers and happy hotspotting.

Tx

Tom i forgot to mention if used in Hotels best to go for Engenius EAP 3660, i have tested it and very admaze with it. the reason is because it can support "Antenna Diversity". don't put the AP on the lobby for signal can travel up & down + surrounding if you get what i am saying.

Cheers

Tx

Don't forget about concurrent users.
Every router is different to how many users in can handle at one time.

I recommend researching this if you are putting a router in a high traffic area.

Ok thanks for that. I don't have an exact meter measurement of what I'm trying to cover.
I'm on the hunt for a modem/router that does 3g connections and can handle a few users. Looks like I'm going to need a seprate router and modem. I'll post up what I find

Tom

The last time i checked, there was only one 3g router that works with dd-wrt and dHotSpot.
I think it was a linksys.

Maybe there are more now.
That was like 2 months ago.

Please let me know.

No worries I'll let you know, if worst comes to worst I'll just use a stand alone 3g modem then plug the ddwrt flashed router into it :)
